New Facebook Touchscreen Mobile Site

While having an iPhone version of the super-popular social network site, Facebook launched yesterday (22/10/09) a new site catered toward users of “other” touchscreen mobile devices, or at least better optimized site for phones other than Apple’s iPhone smart phone. The mobile site is located at touch.facebook.com.
The move comes at a great time, with the pending release of the BlackBerry Storm2, and an assortment of Android-based devices this holiday season.
In a statement to All Facebook, the Facebook press team said the following:
“We’ve redesigned our mobile site for touch devices (x.facebook.com and iphone.facebook.com) with new features and to make it look and feel like other Facebook mobile and Web properties.
The site also has a new domain name, touch.facebook.com. A user only needs to type Facebook.com into the address bar of their mobile browser and they will be automatically directed to the Facebook mobile site best suited to their device.
The goal is for our mobile products to offer a familiar user experience that is simple and easy-to-use regardless of the device they choose.”
